This is Me
My name is Catherine and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I decided to transfer to OSU after taking a few years off of school (7 or 8) and realizing I wanted to get my BA to improve my skills and job opportunities. I used to work as a Wardrobe Stylist and went to school for makeup and hair. Though I was looking for a job that would provide me with more stability than freelancing did and more consistent pay. When looking for jobs in the corporate sector I began to realize the necessity for a BA degree and here I am. I am an Apparel Major currently part of the Degree Partnership Program with Linn Benton. This is upcoming term marks my third term at OSU and second at Linn Benton. (One more year to go!!!) I enrolled in this course as it is part of my core studies for OSU. Since Apparel Design falls under the School of Business at OSU. So by default I am studying both Business Administration and Apparel Design. Which is probably a really good thing since I hope to work for a large company and one day open my own small business.
I think the topic I am most interested in learning when it comes to marketing is advertisements and self-marketing. I think this stems from wanting to own my own business and thinking about things that make my business unique and different. I want my business to stand out and I want to bring something new to the table.
I think the things that I am most passionate about outside of school is eating (I am a huge foodie), drinking coffee/tea/beer, playing Pokemon Go, thrifting, and helping animals. I love trying new food, especially Asian food. I also enjoy going to coffee places, making coffee at home, going to different breweries and trying odd brews (like a raspberry sour with coffee notes). I am huge on playing Pokemon Go and it's amazing that there is such a big community here in Corvallis that plays. I've been thrifting for longer than I can remember probably around 15 years. I always love trying to find cool unique items and also going to antique stores and collecting interesting pieces for my home. I also have a big love for animals. I am often known as the one who will go and help animals that are lost and/or hurt. Last year (a few days after Christmas) I was able to reunite a dog that was lost with his family after some investigative work. Me and my friends were able to track down the dogs family by calling different groomers. Since he was newly groomed and wearing a Christmas tie. We were able to find the groomer in the area that recognized the dog and reunited him with his family. I also have two animals of my own a tabby cat and a pug.
Here are some photos of my life. The first is of my mother, sister, and I last year at my best friends wedding. The second is at Anime Expo last year with my best friend (who is the one that got married). Third is a photo from Comic Con San Diego of one of the cosplayers. Fourth is of my cat Nymphadora. Lastly, is of the dog I helped rescue as mentioned in previous paragraph. Oh yeah and some coffee in downtown at Tried & True.
